Jake, our 1 year old golden retriever, has been a really good boy this year! Over the weekend I baked him a batch of his favourite homemade treats and made him his very own "treat tree".
I used my go-to recipe for homemade wheat-free dog treats which can be found here. In keeping with the season, I cut the treats into tiny stars and poked a hole in each star before baking to accommodate the string after baking.
Once the cookies have baked and cooled, they are ready for stringing. The "string" that I used to hang the stars on the tree is actually thin strips of dried apple slices, so the entire treat is edible!
The "tree" part of this arrangement is a mini lavender plant that our local grocery stores have in stock in December.
I really love the rustic, old-fashioned look of this treat tree ...
... and Jake loves the treats!
Enjoy your pets!
By the way, I don't think you should let your dog eat the lavender, although when I did a quick internet search, lavender wasn't included in the list of toxic plants.
